The BPM Festival’s European expansion just doubled its roster and then some. The BPM Festival: Portugal’s inaugural edition will take place from September 14th-17th in Portimão and Lagoa, Portugal, and event organizers have revealed a stellar Phase 2 lineup announcement.
The 63 artists comprising the Phase 1 lineup had included such massive tastemakers as Richie Hawtin, Chris Liebing, Seth Troxler, Dubfire and Hot Since 82. However, the new additions help reinforce BPM’s reputation as a festival for true underground enthusiasts. While the likes of Danny Tenaglia, Art Department, Paco Osuna and Anja Schneider are by no means obscure, acts like Nastia, Paul Kalkbrenner, Martin Buttrich and Guti will appeal to more selective house and techno fans.
As with previous iterations of The BPM Festival, the Portugal edition’s time slots will be divided be divided into artist and label showcases in six locations. Lee Burridge’s All Day I Dream and Stefano Noferini’s Deeperfect are but a couple of the brands boasting curated lineups at both enclosed and open-air nightlife destinations. Katedral, Blanco Beach and NoSoloÁgua are among the participating venues.
The BPM Festival’s debut edition took place in 2008 in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. BPM stands for “Bartenders, Promoters, Musicians;” it was originally intended to be a private gathering for industry professionals but grew into one of the most reputed brands in underground electronic music. 2017 sees the festival’s organizers venture into uncharted territory - but to great reception indeed. Tier 1 and 2 tickets for the Portugal edition have sold out, indicating that European dance music fans are welcoming it with open arms.
Right now, Tier 3 tickets are on sale for The BPM Festival: Portugal. Purchase tickets here, and look out for more lineup additions in the month leading up to the event.
